During the first game of a Saturday doubleheader on July 10, 1976, Steve Carlton notched his 2,000th career strikeout (against Dave Winfield in the ninth inning) pitching a complete game shutout for the Philadelphia Phillies as they hosted the San Diego Padres at Veterans Stadium. The Phillies took the first game, 5-0, behind Carlton's career win #257, supported by a Gary Maddox home run. In contrast, Alan Foster took the loss for the Padres. In the second contest, the Phillies continued the streak, 4-2, over the Friars, led by a Jim Lonborg win, bolstered by a Bob Boone roundtripper as Dan Spillner took the defeat, despite a Jerry Turner four bagger. Willie McCovey, Dave Winfield, and Mike Schmidt appeared in both games, with Dick Allen only playing in the first, in front of a crowd of 47,101.
The condition concerns of the 1 1/12" x 2 1/2" ticket stub include minor wear at corners and edges. The second game is mislabeled on the flip as having a 4-0 score, but instead should read 4-2. Acrylic may have scuff marks or scratches on it, but does not affect item. Please examine scans closely.
